Job Description
Employee capable of assisting the physical therapist in performing treatment to prevent disabilities and to restore and maintain the patient's functional capacity to an optimal level. The age of the patient served shall be considered. Follows and implements the treatment plans set up for the patient by the physical therapist using various devices and equipment to restore patient function. Educating patients and families in home exercise programs, in the use of issued equipment, and in the relationship of disability/disease with their present state of function. Assisting in the development of protocol in the treatment of various patient types. Directs the work of aides, students, and volunteers. Follows all departmental safety policies and procedures regarding one's personal protect ion and patient safety. Develops self professionally and participates in departmental activities. Associate's degree (A. A.) from an accredited School of Physical therapy, and six months to one year related experience and/or training preferred. Must hold a current certificate in BCLS. Must hold a current license through the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
