Job Description
I. POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Physical Therapist evaluates and treats patients under orders from the referring
physician. Evaluation and treatment programs are developed through the use of a variety of
therapeutic procedures designed to restore loss of muscle strength, coordination and body
alignment, to control pain and to improve movement and function. This position oversees the
supervision of support staff to ensure quality of care and maximum productivity. The Physical
Therapist functions in accordance with their State Practice Act.
Job Requirements
II. QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy;
• Current license, certification or registration in the state of practice;
• Demonstrated competency in identified areas of specialization, including training for age
specific groups;
• Demonstrated competency in applying the principles, methods, materials and equipment
necessary in the practice of physical therapy;
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to assess patient and family needs, and develop and implement a comprehensive Plan
of Care;
• Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards/requirements;
• Knowledge of Medicare documentation standards;
• Recommended affiliation with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
