Physical Therapy Employment

The primary function of the Physical Therapist provides direct care, patient education and the management of the applicable therapy (physical) called for in the patient’s treatment plan.  Consults with and educates other care team members concerning applicable patient assessment and treatment protocols.  Serves as a rehabilitation resource for the care team.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy with a Baccalaureate or Master’s Degree.

LICENSURE: Must have a current licensure by the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of 1 year of experience required as a PT; 2 years of experience preferred.  Previous work in Rehab Centers or Sub-acute units are a plus.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: A professional knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques inherent to the scope of practice.  Communication skills to interact effectively with patient, family, care team members, referrals and community resources.  Knowledge of accrediting bodies’ standards, Medicare, Medicaid and other funding source regulations as applied to home care services.

TRANSPORTATION: Must have valid automobile insurance and reliable transportation.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Extensive traveling and working in patients’ homes in various conditions and environments.   Highest risk is in terms of personal safety regarding bloodborne pathogens and on-road travel.

COMPUTER SKILLS:  Must be familiar with general use and functions of the computer, such as, user names and password concepts; internet; e-mail; navigation of computer desktop or laptop, including starting programs, using files, and windows, effectively use navigation buttons and tool bars; ability to self-manage online HR services and online training programs.
