Function:
To provide medically prescribed evaluation and treatment of individuals following accepted practice guidelines, in a home health care setting.
General Statement of Responsibility:
The Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for directly following the established plan of treatment developed by the supervising Physical Therapist in accordance with physicians orders, with federal, state, and local standards, and with the established agency policies and procedures to maximize fulfilling the therapy needs of patients.
Job Requirements
Education: Associate of Science degree in Physical Therapy from a school approved by the American Physical Therapy Association is required.
Knowledge and Abilities: Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communications skills. Must effectively communicate with patients, families, and others and convey sense of caring, concern and dignity for patients.
Accurately interprets the patient’s physical therapy home care needs. Makes prompt and accurate physical therapy judgments while following the supervising physical therapist’s treatment plan.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year home health experience is preferred.
Special Requirements: Current license to practice as a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant in the appropriate state, current driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and CPR certification.
