Job Description

Physical Therapist Assistant needed for great summer contract at Madigan Army Hospital on Ft. Lewis in Tacoma, WA.  The dates will run from May 17th-August 10th.  You can work on any state license with this contract because its a military contract.

Job Requirements

5.8.1.  The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) assists and works under the supervision of a physical therapist in implementing patients' physical therapy treatment programs as established by the licensed physical therapist.  Supervisor observes work performance for adequacy and effectiveness in achieving objectives; reviews written reports, i.e. assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes for technical accuracy, appropriateness and adherence to clinic standards. 

 

5.8.2.  Administers full range of physical therapy modalities, instructs patients in exercise, home care programs and self care techniques, performs manual therapies of peripheral joints, supervises patients carrying out their programs and corrects as necessary.  Establishes treatment goals utilizing established protocols, and continually reassesses patient’s progress and response to treatment.  Performs gross manual muscle tests, joint and soft tissue ROM measures and other specialized tests.  Measures patients for and trains patients in the use of ambulation aids and other appliances.  Through observations makes judgments on whether the treatment is causing negative or adverse effects on other conditions not under treatment.  Records findings in clinic and medical records.  Consults therapist in non-routine situations or when patients fail to respond in an expected manner to established procedures.  Discusses patients, treatments, plans, goals and progress with other health care providers such as physician assistants, nurses, physicians, etc. individually or in various meetings. 

 

5.8.3. Participates in meetings such as the quality assurance program and in-service training.  Conducts classes as needed, both formally and informally, such as injury prevention or group exercise programs to include: aquatic therapy. 

 

5.8.4.  Performs general section duties as required.  Posts data for statistical section reports.  Assists in inventories of equipment and supplies.  Performs clerical tasks as required, such as preparing requisitions or orders, maintaining ledgers, and answering the phone.  Assembles equipment and accessories for specific treatments.  Performs level I inspections and repair or adjustment on equipment.  Ensures that the clinic is orderly, and that linen, equipment, and patient contact surfaces are clean.  Requests cleaning supplies and other operational supplies as needed.  Ensures that all JCAHO requirements are met, to include standards of care, proper infection control, and safety. 

 

Possess an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) from an institution accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) through the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). 

 

1.2.11.2. Possess a current Physical Therapy Assistant license to practice physical therapy in any of the 50 United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, or be license-eligible
