Job Summary:
Responsible for the provision of direct patient care to patients under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Duties include direct patient care as well as indirect patient services such as documentation, ordering, family training, rounds, and interaction with the interdisciplinary team.

Essential Duties:
- Assists Physical Therapist in performing data collection, formulation of treatment plans, and in implementing and conducting a treatment plan.
- Completes documentation responsibilities as identified within the PT department.
- Formulates an effective working relationship with all health care team members, patients, and their significant-others.
- Responds effectively to legal, patient rights, safety, maintenance, and emergency situations.
- Participates in continuing education, staff development, and performs self-directed learning.
- Participates in supervision of new staff, aides, students and volunteers as requested.
- Performs related duties as required.
Job Requirements
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Valid Iowa Driver's/Chauffeurs License required, with accident free driving record for last three years and at least 18 years of age. (Required statement if covered under Motor Vehicle Policy)
Proof of current personal automobile insurance as required by Iowa law. (Required statement if covered under Motor Vehicle Policy)
Complete a one-hour Safe Driving Course within six (6) months of hire and complete a Safe Driving Review course every three years as provided by Mercy Medical Center. (Required statement if covered under Motor Vehicle Policy)
High school graduate or equivalent GED
Successful completion of a course of study for the physical therapy assistant accredited by the APTA or other appropriate accrediting body or equivalent as determined by Iowa Board of PT/OT Examiners.
Licensed or eligible for Iowa licensure
Obtain certificate of competence in CPR within 3 months of hire date.
