Oncology Nurse Practitioner
Details: Pulse Staffing is searching for an experienced Oncology Nurse Practitioner for a world-renowned private cancer medicine facility located in the Texas Medical Center, Houston, Texas. Our client is dedicated to the delivery of the most up-to-date and the highest quality of cancer care, including prevention, diagnosis and treatment. This clinic consist of world renowned physicians and nurses and an excellent clinic support team working together to deliver the highest level of patient care and safety. The Oncology NP is responsible for communication with the Physicians regarding all aspects of patient care and will seek input and direction from Physicians as needed. NP develops, implements and evaluates a program of specialized health care for the Oncology population. He/she follows and manages patients (in collaboration with MD) enhancing continuity of care. Nurse Practitioner Job duties: Provide direct nursing care to patients with different types of solid tumors. Including appropriate supportive care and administration of chemotherapy, blood components, fluids, electrolyte replacement and other prescribed oncology treatments. Perform nursing assessments and triage patients. Have a good working knowledge of chemotherapy and biotherapy medications Have a working knowledge of central venous access catheters (Port-a-catheters and PICC lines) Provide education and support to the patient and family Provide supervision to all clinical staff Reviews lab results and radiology reports and relays pertinent information to physicians. Maintains clinical expertise through formal and informal educational programs. Provides on call coverage mutually scheduled by supervising physicians and Nurse Practitioner. Call responsibilities include but not limited to: Responding to patient/family phone calls, rounding in the hospital, and providing appropriate back-up to physicians as needed.
