The Sr. Director of Regulatory Compliance reports directly to the Vice President, Medical Device Regulatory Compliance (JJRC) and will establish an effective Compliance program including a comprehensive Internal Audit Program as well as management of the External Inspection program across the Global Orthopaedics franchise. The Sr. Director of Regulatory Compliance will be a member of the Global Orthopaedics Quality Leadership team and will lead the team of Operating Company compliance leads via a dotted line reporting relationship. This position will enable strong coordination of compliance activities between franchises, operating companies, and sites. The Sr. Director of Regulatory Compliance will represent Global Orthopaedics Franchise on the MD Regulatory Compliance Leadership Team, and will be the point of contact for Enterprise Regulatory Compliance inquiries. The Sr. Director of Regulatory Compliance will assure all MD and J&J enterprise Standards are effectively implemented across the Global Orthopaedics Network. The Sr. Director of Regulatory Compliance will have following responsibilities: Compliance Framework and Expertise: Lead the Global Orthopaedics regulatory compliance function to achieve a compliance framework that focuses on oversight and execution, in a systematic way, to enable proactive compliance success in delivering business needs across Global Orthopaedics operating units. Manage Legacy Synthes Certification Audits, responses and FDA follow up. Build relationships with Local District FDA offices. Standardize and leverage compliance policies, practices and metrics across the Global Orthopaedics Company and assure alignment with MD Regulatory Compliance and Enterprise Q&C. Provide independent review and classification of all Regulatory Health Authority inspections and observations at all operating units within Global Orthopaedics. Align with MD Regulatory Compliance SPOC. Determine Initial classification of severity of all Field Actions at all operating units and align with MD Regulatory Compliance SPOC. Assure the Global Orthopaedics escalation processes are aligned with MD and Enterprise Quality & Compliance escalation processes. Assure operating units are fully complying with escalation processes. Responsible for Global Orthopaedics Compliance dashboard and reporting preparation for the MD Regulatory Compliance and Enterprise Q&C organization and Johnson & Johnson Compliance Committee. Establish and maintain robust internal audit program and Inspection Readiness program across DePuy Synthes. Engage external stakeholders and regulators to ensure understanding, influence and alignment with standards & expectations. Communicates early signals to stakeholders of risks that could impact sustained compliance. Provides a holistic view of compliance status. Participates in the development of solutions to mitigate risk. Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required and undergraduate degree in science; engineering or related discipline is preferred. Graduate degree/studies in science, business, engineering, finance or organizational management or equivalent experience preferred. A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in managing all aspects of Quality Assurance Regulatory Compliance in an international, global context, in a regulated healthcare environment is required. Experience in the medical devices or pharmaceutical industry is preferred. Experience working with the FDA is required and experience with MHRA or other foreign regulatory agencies is preferred. Candidate must possess a demonstrated track record of successful compliance. A minimum of 3 years of people management is required. Direct experience leading Notified Body/FDA audits is required. Strong knowledge of FDA and EU regulatory compliance is required. Demonstrated knowledge of interpretation and application of QSR, MDD, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and other applicable international standards is required. Proven success in: Creating strong relationships with Regulatory agencies; creating a direct and indirect organization that delivers results; attracting and developing superior talent; builds consensus and impacts outcome without always having line authority and is able to negotiate trade off decisions across the organization; collaborative approach; managing complexity. Regulatory experience and reputation, compliance experience, large-scale QMS experience is required. Change management and project management experience is preferred. Issue remediation experience is required. Must have outstanding communication skills, able to inspire trust and quickly build credibility within the Quality and Compliance community, sr. executive management, external regulators, and industry. Must have strong collaboration and influence management skills to partner effectively within corporate functions and across Operating Units.
