Job Description
Status: PRN
A paraprofessional under the direction and supervision of the physical therapist who provides selected physical therapy interventions as indicated per treatment plan. He/she will progress patient toward established goals and maintain communication with the physical therapist in regards to each patients status. The assistant will also provide appropriate education to patient and or family.
1.
Performs modalities ( moist heat, ice, mechanical traction, electrical stimulation, vaso-pneumatic devices, pararffin, hydortherapy, fluidotherapy, ultraviolet, iontophoresis, ultrasound).
2.
Performs therapeutic procedures ( exercise, neuromuscular reeducation, gait, massage, manual therapy, orthotic fitting and training, prosthetic training, dynamic activities, wound care, compression garments).
3.
Utilizes exercise equipment ( treadmill, ergometers, leg-press, isokinetic, inertial system, fitter, ankle platform system, pulley system).
4.
Reports to physical therapist when re-evaluations are needed and or changes in patient status.
5.
Delegates tasks and duties as indicated.
6.
Participates in continuing education, departmental meetings, and in-service programs.
7.
Adjusts patient care schedule and prioritizes tasks as indicated.
8.
Performs documentation per policy and procedures ( progress notes, discharge summary, and multi-disciplinary education and treatment plan forms).
9.
Performs patient and family education regarding interventions, disease/injury, safety, and wellness.
10.
Participates in quality improvement initiatives.
11.
Participates in discharge planning with the multi-disciplinary team.
12.
Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
13.
Completes required documents for supply and treatment charges.
14.
Participates in clinical supervision/instruction of students.
15.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN PHYSICAL THERAPY
EXPERIENCE:
PREFERRED AS PTA OR TECHNICIAN
LICENSE & CERTIFICATION:
KENTUCKY STATE BOARD OF PHYSICAL THERAPY
ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN PHYSICAL THERAPY
EXPERIENCE:
PREFERRED AS PTA OR TECHNICIAN
LICENSE & CERTIFICATION:
